Central Médoc

Three famous communes lie at the heart of the Médoc. Research commissioned for Inside Bordeaux allows our map to plot what lies beneath the châteaux. It reveals the pattern of the gravel subsoil ‘terraces’, seamed with rivulets and canals that drain into the Gironde. The contours clearly show how the vineyards gently rise from the low-lying riverside plain.

Southern Médoc

This map focuses on the famous Margaux appellation and its neighbours: for the first time ever, you can look beneath the vines to the terroirs that underlie them. It shows, at a glance, where the châteaux are and the quality of their vineyard soils. It reveals that Margaux is the only appellation to boast all six Médoc gravel ‘terraces’, and which has the most classed growths.

Right Bank

A superb map of the Right Bank’s wine zones, including St-Emilion and Pomerol, plotted with their châteaux locations for the first time. Our map reveals how some key areas are united by their limestone-based soils, while for some, gravel and clay are central to wine character and quality. Use it to find the very special patch of heavy clay soil that underlies some of the most famous châteaux at the heart of Pomerol.
